Keeps Coffee hot for a long while
By Seattle Slim
Pros:
Is not a grind and brew - so no mold issues
Easy to read cup measurements inside water reservoir
filter holder pops right out for east cleaning
Condensation does not drip down back of unit when you open lid!! an issue with most coffee makers
Carafe keeps coffee hot for 4+ hours
Lack of a hot plate means no burned coffee and less fire hazard
Timer easy to set
Consistent cup of coffee
Cons:
Carafe will not poor out all the coffee unless you remove the lid
Carafe lid hard to remove and carafe hard to clean
Small target area at back of coffee maker for reservoir makes refilling a slow process
Digital read-out really hard to read
Setting knob small and hard to turn
Coffee (as it is a drop machine) may not be strong enough for some folks
No confirmation light telling you brew is complete and coffee is ready

Yummm and (^%@)#(*(*!!?><)

Seattle Slim actually does a great job of telling it like it is.....but let me add a few tidbits and tell you why this coffee maker makes the best cup of coffee I've ever had at home.
My wife and I love a good cup of coffee. Strong but not bitter with rich, full bodied bursts of flavor.
I purchased this coffeemaker...and then took it back because I was frustrated with all the issues (cons) mentioned. I couldn't pour it without spilling; I couldn't get all the coffee out of the pot without (literally) turning it upside down; I couldn't see the small water container opening as it was dark brown and I didn't want to turn on the overheads in the kitchens every time just for that...and finally, the top to the carafe was sometimes very hard to open.
But, weirdly, once we figured out that the grind was too fine, the flavor came alive and I was sad to return the machine. I figured that I could get as good a machine from Cuisinart or some other manufacturer.
I was wrong. I purchased and return 5 machines in the 80-$200 range and NONE of them produced as fine a cup of coffee as this one. So after 3 weeks I went back and purchased it again -- this time knowing what I would have to deal with in order to get a cup of coffee we LOVED -- and still do 3 years later!
After several years of ownership I can actually tell you why it works so much better than other units...but first i want to answer the comment about the overflow.
Two words = operator error/inexperience. Please understand -- I have had to clean up from the unit overflowing several times -- and each time it was because I or someone else took a shortcut and got coffee grinds in the filter holder and plugged it up OR I over filled the reservoir beyond 12 cups water OR made the coffee with a finer grind than needed (thinking it would be 'better').
So now the WHY it makes better brew....
It has a much wider water spritzer. Nearly 2 inches. The coffee grinds rarely have a hole down the middle. The water spreads across the whole top...or at least much of it. It allows the coffee to 'bloom' just the way it is recommended when you do it by hand. and then the rest of the water just pulls the great (and not bitter) flavor into the pot.
Frustrating at first...yes....but worth it in the long run.

Cuisinart DCC-2400
By Samiam
We bought the Cuisinart DCC-2400 from a local Starbucks outlet about 3 years ago.
Pros:
1. Has a timer.
2. Insulated carafe keeps coffee hot for appx. 3 hrs.
3. Looks nice.
4. Makes a decent cup of coffee.
5. Has an easy to remove filter.
Con's:
1. Leaks down the back of the machine when the lid is opened.
2. Hard to see fill marks if you are short. I am 6' and have no problem, my wife is 5'1" and has a hard time.
3. Hard to clean carafe, opening on top is too small to get your hand in.
4. Will overflow if you make a 12 cup pot with too fine of a grind.
5. Must use a paper filter in conjunction with the supplied metal filter to avoid sludge at the bottom of each pot you brew.
6. After only 3 years it has sprung a leak under the machine that will leak almost a quarter of a cup of water before the brew process has completed.
7. Of course the machine is out of warranty and Cuisinart want's nothing to do with helping us with it.
Conclusion: Initially I really liked the machine and we use it every day. The difficulty of cleaning the carafe was mitigated with a bottle brush and the challenge with filling the machine with water is not that big of a deal. We typically only brew 8 pot cups so overflow isn't an issue very often. It still makes a good cup of coffee but the leak is a really big problem that is forcing us to shop for another machine. At $140 it was not a cheap unit, for that price I would hope to get more than 2.5 years of trouble free use. All in all, if I could get the machine for half price I would buy it again. At full retail with tax and shipping I wouldn't do it.
